Volunteers in the rooms/Registration Area

The Registration area hosts the registration desks, the information desk and the booking area.

Where Short check list for the participants Why
Before you arrive Please bring
  1. Your passport or ID (and visa if necessary)
  2. Registration code
  3. Make a copy of your passport and ID
  4. If your accommodation is in Esino Lario bring 10 euro/dollars as a deposit for the key
  5. Your adapter if needed
  6. Sweaters, jacket, umbrella and good shoes (we expect 15-20 degree)
At the airport or in Milan Change money.

Registration desks and Italian Roulette

The registration desks allow to collect the ticket made online and to get get a ticket

Registration with check in
  • Copy of the passport
  • Get the registration code of the eventbrite:
  1. Printed information about the assigned accommodation.
  2. Keys (eventually torch)
  3. Collect 10 euro for the keys
  4. Tickets for the lunches and dinners
  5. Sign the document
  • The copy need to be stored and archived in a plastic transparent envelop

The person doesn't have the registration code, contact Marta Pigazzini [try to manage this on the bus]. Internet is down, use the paper copies.

Assignment for transport
  1. Apartment owner + volunteer speaking English
  2. Driver + volunteer knowing the location and speaking English
If you can not find the location contact Patrizia Barindelli.
Arrival at the accommodation
  • The room assigned has the same gender roommate as planned or a couple as assigned.
  • The beds are separated or united as requested.
  • The room is accessible for the person (he/she can walk to there, there are no problems with the staircase...).
  • Bedding is there.

Registration for the police (questura)
  • Copy of name and data to register the participants within the police online system.

Possible situations

Area Issue What to do
Accommodation The accommodation is too far away or the roommate is really annoying. Contact Marta Pigazzini.
Accommodation Something is not working in the accommodation. Contact Patrizia Barindelli.
Breakfast The person couldn't find the breakfast.
Behaviour People (and yourself) have to behave correctly. Wikimania has a Friendly space policy which means we do not accept
  • Personal attacks, violence, threats of violence, or deliberate intimidation.
  • Offensive, derogatory, or discriminatory comments.
  • Gratuitous or off-topic use of sexual language or imagery.
  • Inappropriate or unwanted attention, touching, or physical contact (sexual or otherwise).
  • Inappropriate or unwanted public or private communication, following, or any form of stalking.
  • Unwanted photography or recording. Please note that the green lanyard indicated people who do not want photos or videos.
  • Disclosure of a person's identity or other private information without their consent. Disclosure of some identifying information is not consent to disclose other identifying information.
  • Inappropriate or unwanted publication of private communication. Publishing or reporting private communication or personally identifying information for the purposes of reporting harassment (as explained here) and/or in the case of whistleblowing, is acceptable.
  • Harming the discussion or community with methods such as sustained disruption, interruption, or blocking of community collaboration (i.e. trolling).
  • Discrimination (unless required by law), particularly against marginalized and otherwise underrepresented groups. Targeted outreach to such groups is allowed and encouraged.
  • Using the code of conduct system for purposes other than reporting genuine violations of the code of conduct (e.g., retaliating against a reporter or victim by filing a report claiming their response was harassment).
  • Attempting to circumvent a decision of the Committee or appeals body, e.g. unblocking someone during a period the Committee banned them.
Ask people to stop and if they do not contact the Wikimania emergency number. Please note that during Wikimania there are two policemen in each building.
