I read this after seeing your post in Wikimania and Wikimedia UK email lists. I started out with some of the aspects you mention. The complexity of the decision is huge. It required a knowledge of the past 40 years or so. Facts were hard to come by. Should we have had a referndum to decide if we had a referendum?
