Presenter: Jon Katz, Nirzar Pangarkar

Biography of Presenter: Jon Katz is the product lead for Reading at the Wikimedia Foundation and responsible for the maintenance and development of new features to serve the people who visit our projects. Jon has been working in software development and strategy since 2007 and has an MBA from Berkeley with a focus on the management of nonprofits and technology. He currently sits on the board of directors of Hesperian Health Guides, a 40 year old nonprofit that develops health education material that is easy to read, openly licensed, and translated into over 80 languages in partnership with the communities they serve.

Overview of topic: Mobile has surpassed readers in terms of the number of devices accessing Wikipedia each month. This talk will cover recent trends, development efforts by the WMF in partnership with our communities, challenges, and the strategy going forward. This talk will focus on how readers experience Wikipedia. There will be an open discussion for how mobile impacts editing described here: Discussions/Mobile.
