Transport to and from Varenna and Perledo

These two other villages sound similar to the outlying accommodation in Haifa - ie they are a coach journey away. How many times will the bus run to and from those villages and when will be the last bus? WereSpielChequers (talk) 07:01, 19 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gestumblindi and WereSpielChequers. Sorry but I didn't see your question.

Well, as you can see in Journey/Train#Details, there are busses from the station of Varenna-Esino to Esino Lario (the bus waits for the train; trains arrive every hour). During Wikimania transport system will be increased. From Varenna to Esino Lario the travel time is about 40 minutes. But unfortunately I don't know when will be the last bus. @Yiyi: Thank you, especially the "last bus" information will be of interest to many people :-) - I suppose it would be a good thing if there were at least some really late (night) buses, so people can stay, debate and socialize in Esino Lario in the evening and don't have to say "oh, my last bus to Perledo leaves at 21:00, I have to go"... @Gestumblindi: normally, the last bus is in the late afternoon, but now our team is working on an agreement with the local public transport company to increase the service, for Wikimania participants and also because we have some volunteers who are students from Lecco (wich is 40 km from Esino). @Gestumblindi: We are still working at the details of the transport between Varenna and Esino. There will certainly be late buses for people who want to stay in Esino after dinner for the evening program or for discussion. @Yiyi: Thank you! I will stay in Varenna, so this is important information for me. How will you ascertain the number of people staying in towns such as Varenna and Perledo? Probably you can assume that most of those who booked for the full conference but didn't include accommodation in Esino in their booking will have self-organized their accommodation in one of those towns? Hi Gestumblindi. Yes, the last bus from Esino to Varenna will depart at about 11.00 pm. In the morning, when you take the ticket for the bus from Varenna train station to Esino Lario, a volunteer will ask you which bus you want to take for the return, so as to ensure a bus for the return for participants who do not stay in Esino. --Yi yi 21:33, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dinner in Varenna and Perledo

Is the plan for everyone to stay for dinner in Esino Lario and then go to Varenna and Perledo, or are there restaurants in those villages? If the plan is for some people to have dinner in Varenna and Perledo then it would help to know how many wikimanians are likely to be in those villages. Hi WereSpielChequers. As you can see in registration, different tickets are available. All tickets (for people who will stay in Esino Lario and for people who will stay in Varenna) include dinner. But you are free to have dinner in Varenna :-)

Camping

Is it possible/allowed to camp near Esino Lario? I see the accommodation ticket is no longer available and wonder if I could just bring a tent...

Hi, there is a camping space in Ortanella ( 10 min by car from Esino town center), however it is equipped only with running water. There maybe another possibility of camping but it needs to be verified.
