The città infinita is a participative game. A sustainable and neverending play. A new way of learning to take care of the planet and build a different future.

Since 2006 the città infinita has been running in Italy and Spain. The performance has built hundreds of cities, each with its own individual identity because it is a unique project that speaks about places and territories with their own foundations. During the various performances, The città infinita, with its ethical values and positive charge has successfully reached many places and people. It has entered in museums, schools, festivals and European projects. But above all, it has provided the opportunity for thousands of people to use their creativity and give a second life to materials destined to be discarded.

How does it work

The città infinita is a team performance which happens thanks to the collaboration of all: children but also adults working together to build the city, using recycled materials donated by wooden companies. It is a place of relationships and collaboration: every citizen finds themselves living close to someone with whom they share a territory and where a common construction journey can start, according to the aspirations and skills of each.

Building a house is the first step for each citizen to begin ‘living’ the city. Then neighbors can unite their houses and meet, thanks to streets, bridges and galleries. Together they can decide what public buildings to build to improve the environment and the quality of life, a space for all, a park, a school, a theater, a hospital. The strength of the project lies in the building material: the “bricks” that participants use to build the city have been discarded by companies. Unfinished or defective products which are no longer of commercial value get a second chance thanks to children´s fantasy.
