Abstract

Wikimedia, like many other technological projects around the world, presents a big gender gap in terms of female collaborators. Out of 10 Wikipedia editors, only one is female. One of the consequences of low participation in Wikimedia has to do with the type of content that is created. It is not just missing various articles about women. It lacks the female perspective in the created articles.

In Germany we found opportunities with "Women Edit" as well as "Wiki Women on Tour" to reduce the gender gap. In this presentation makes at the example of the German-speaking Wikipedia evident what will be changes concerning the contents in the articles of Wikipedia if more women take part.
