Abstract

In the global South we need Wikimedians that present their cultural heritage in their own voices. A good method to get access to information with historical and cultural relevance is to work as a Wikimedian in Residence in institutions. Now how do we train future Wikimedians in Residence in Open Knowledge, the Wikimedia Projects, Licenses, Fund Raising, Networking, Outreach and everything that helps to be a successfull Wikimedian in Residence?

WikiAfrica together with the Goethe-Insitut Johannesburg in November/December 2014 coordinated and managed an intense workshop for Wikimedians from all over Africa (see m:WikiAfrica/OpenAfrica15).

I would like to present solutions for training Wikimedians in Residence and would like to discuss how to improve activating Wikimedians for active community building.
