Abstract

Wikimedia France proposes to answer the question: how to make our membership’s actions visible by building efficient communication levers among volunteers and staff members ?

One difficulty is the antagonism which exists between humility and anonymity of volunteers and the obvious need to communicate about the actions of these members to reach several objectives such as recruiting new volunteers, embody our movement’s values, etc.

In a first part, we will focus on volunteer-staff duo, as a daily work practice at Wikimedia France. We will take the example of setting up an editorial committee, to better cast light on volunteers’ activities through Wikimedia France’s communication channels.

In a second part, we will address the tools which have been co-designed by WMFR’s team and its members to efficiently communicate to an external audience. We will focus especially on co-creation and co-management of online levers.
