Abstract

What is the Art and Science behind building successful and engaged community of volunteers?

Sharing research and best practices from FeverBee, who have helped almost 200 organizations including The World Bank, Wikipedia and Oracle develop communities and tapping into movement learning and data, this session will focus on the practices, technology and initiatives which turn first time contributors into long-term and active community members.

This session will review motivational drivers of contributors using personas and interviews with Wikimedia volunteers and review of techniques for increasing contributor engagement.

Tools and Resources for increasing volunteer engagement through programs will also be shared by the Wikimedia Foundation Program Capacity and Learning Team.
