Abstract

Lot more attenton should be given to the idea of collecting media files as Wikipedia needs both text and media files to present the world in all of its complexity. It is only in the combination of the two, what really represents the maximal power of expression.

Some competitions have been organized, several cooperation projects carried out, photography trips made etc, but have we really tried to reached for the photographers. Have we looked for the people who could provide high quality media content and invited them to join?

This presentation will show on the example of Estonia what kind of things might be done to address that issue. How to welcome more people and how to collect content on the topics we are lacking it.

Photography enthusiasts are underrepresented among the ranks of Wikimedians. It should not be so and we can all work to fix that.
