Abstract

The traditional wiki model is very low-tech, the input device being scarcely more advanced than a glass teletype, but extremely powerful.

Conversely the shiny new Visual Editor, and other mega projects have attempted to move the interface into the point-and-click web paradigm, arguably simple to use, but loosing the power of wiki-constructs.

We explore a number of ways of delivering point-and-click functionality based on standard or only slightly modified wiki-technology.

We also look at simplifying the wiki-interface to make it less daunting for those who decide to move beyond the Visual Editor.
